Drain water lines before they freeze and burst.

When mother nature dips into the single digits and the wind blows across the frozen land, water freezes.  Detach your garden hoses, insulate water lines against exterior walls, open cabinet doors so heated air can circulate, drip faucets during single digit temps.  These are all things that can prevent frozen pipes and water damage.

When your pipes freeze and burst there are three things to do immediately:

1.  Turn off your main water line which is usually in the basement.

2.  Contact your plumber.
