Be prepared for Severe Weather!

The time to prepare for a storm is before it happens. Once it is upon us there is little we can do but shelter in place. Berrien County's western edge is directly on Lake Michigan. Each spring/summer season there are some incredibly damaging storms that damage homes.
Wind driven rain, up to 65 mph winds, trees uprooted and falling on roofs, ground water flooding of basements, power outages.
Preventative maintenance:
1. Remove dangerous limbs and trees from your property.
2. Clean out debris from gutters and drain the down spouts at least 5 feet from your foundation.
3. Service your sump pump to make sure it's working properly. Add a battery backup for power outages. It still has to pump and needs electricity.
