Smoke damaged insulation.
A recent wind storm toppled trees in SW Michigan causing some concentrated home damage. Wind blew up about a 5 block area damaging 32 homes. This home sustained a tree fall that caused electrical surges resulting in fire. The smoke filled attic spaces and penetrated the blown insulation. Removal was necessary which is very labor intensive. A large insulation vacuum is necessary to extract all affected material. It is blown into large bags designed to hold the material for disposal. Once the space is clean it is deodorized and new insulation is installed. If this work is not done properly, the smoke odor can affect the entire home for years.
